BenQ revealed this week that it has launched a 32-inch 4K Ultra HD LED-LCD PC monitor optimized for entertainment/gaming use and featuring a built-in advanced 2.1-channel sound system, HDRi intelligence and BenQ’s eyecare technologies.

The BenQ EW3280U, which is listed at a $799.99 suggested retail price, was designed to deliver what the company calls “a one-of-a-kind entertainment experience.”

The EW3280U monitor is equipped with an integrated 2.1-channel sound system featuring built-in treVolo speakers and a 5W woofer. BenQ said these output a rich and high-quality sound, while removing the need for external desktop speakers with the monitor.

The EW3280U also includes a Digital Sound Processor (DSP) chip, for high-level, customizable audio adjustment. Users can select from multiple sound modes to best suit the content being displayed.

For visuals, the monitor uses BenQ’s HDRi technology that was developed to improve color performance, detail contrast and image clarity. A built-in sensor detects ambient light levels and simultaneously assesses and adjusts on-screen images, BenQ said.

The 3840 x 2160 monitor also supports a wide color gamut (95% DCI-P3 listed), and baseline HDR10 high dynamic range (HDR) profile for a wide contrast level (1,000:1 native, 20,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio) and fine shadow detail reproduction. Peak brightness is listed as 350 Nits standard dynamic range and 400 nits (min) HDR.

The LCD panel has a native 60 Hz refresh rate, and a 5 ms GtG response time.

In addition, BenQ’s eyecare technology featured in the EW3280U is said to protect viewers’ eyes during prolonged use, while enabling comfortable viewing. The company said it’s Brightness Intelligence Plus technology auto-adjusts screen brightness, color temperature, and clarity for sustained comfort over long periods of use. Low Blue Light technology filters out potentially harmful blue light radiation, and ZeroFlicker tech relieves eye strain by eliminating the 200+ flickers per second on conventional LCD screens.

Eye Reminder lets users set alerts to take screen breaks. Additionally, Color Weakness mode compensates red and green on-screen colors for viewers with most types of color blindness.

BenQ said the EW3280U was positioned for “the best streaming and gaming.” PC gamer will find the monitor supports FreeSync for seamless play without frame tearing and other common synchronization errors.

Additional features include a remote control, one-touch five-function navigation control on the display, and a volume wheel. BenQ said the monitor’s slim-bezel design makes for a nice fit in multiple monitor setups.
