New York-area Cable TV MSO Altice USA said it now has an app available for its TV customers on Apple TV 4K streaming devices.
The app will enable subscribers to the Altice One video platform to access the service through the popular Apple media streamer. In addition, Altice is offering a financing promotion to those looking to purchase the $180 retail Apple TV 4K box.
Altice One subscribers will have the ability to add the Apple TV 4K box to a television in a remote room or space to access a customers live TV cable tier without the need of a separate cable box or connecting cable run. The app will also give users the ability to use Apple’s Siri voice control system to perform basic control function. The app will enable viewing both live cable TV channels, on-demand programming and programs personally recorded by the user to Altice’s cloud DVR feature, including restarting programs from a point in a program where a viewer left off.

The cross-promotional venture follows a similar deal between Apple and Charter Communications in 2018. In that deal, Apple added the Spectrum TV service app that lets Charter TV subscribers access their cable cables they have subscribed to. In that arrangement, Charter also sold the Apple TV 4K adapter through its retail stores.
The Altice One/Apple TV 4K option will be open to Altice’s Optimum and Suddenlink customers, the cable operator said. “New and existing Altice One users can select Apple TV 4K as part of their package by purchasing a device directly from the Optimum and Suddenlink websites or by visiting select retail stores,” the statement reads.
The monthly finance offers for the Apple TV 4K purchase start at $10 per month. The cable operator said its customers who select Apple TV 4K as part of their package will also receive for a limited time one year free of the new Apple TV+ premium streaming service. Altice One customers can also use the Altice One app on their existing Apple TV 4K or Apple TV HD devices, the company said.
