Samsung announced Tuesday that participating dealers and Samsung.com are now taking orders on the company’s first 77-inch 4K UHD Quantum Dot OLED TV, offered at a $4,499.99 suggested retail price.
Those who take advantage of the early-order opportunity through February 20th will receive free professional in-home installation (a $250 value), the company said.
The new large-screen Samsung 77-inch 4K Quantum OLED TV (QN77S95CAFXZA) will ship out by the end of the month.
The company is billing the set as “the world’s first TV to feature Quantum Dot Technology in a 77-inch form factor.”
Features of the television include the new high-brightness, high-contrast Quantum Dot enhanced OLED TV panel (informally known as QD-OLED). Unlike other OLED TVs, this technology uses a self-emitting blue OLED light source that uses red and green Quantum Dot color converters to produce better than 90% DCI-P3 wide color gamut coverage, for vibrant, rich and more life-like color reproduction with high dynamic range (HDR) brightness and shadow detail.
The company said “Samsung’s Quantum Dot Technology delivers movies, games, and more content in dramatic detail with pure blacks, more than a billion shades of lifelike colors, and unbelievable screen brightness.”
At the recent CES 2023, where the set was first introduced, Samsung listed the S95C’s brightness at up to 2,000 nits, which would be a 30% boost over last year’s S95B series, and a remarkable achievement for OLED technology. Samsung said its uses a new Quantum HDR OLED Plus algorithm to drive the pixels to reach that level.
The advanced on-board picture processing is powered by Samsung’s latest Quantum Neural Processor with 4K Upscaling.
Video game enthusiasts will find the set benefits from low input lag (said to be 0.1 millisecond response time) and up to a 144Hz refresh rate.
Samsung also builds in the Samsung Gaming Hub allows providing access to popular advanced gaming titles from Xbox and other top game streaming partners “with no downloads, storage limits, or console required.”
Other gaming features include HDMI 2.1 inputs supporting VRR, ALLM, 4K gaming from Nvidia GeForce Now, as well as access to the Xbox cloud gaming, Amazon Luna, and Utomik live gaming services.
In addition, a Samsung Smart Hub offers easy access to streaming entertainment content, gaming and ambient options all in one place. A large library of steaming content apps includes the Samsung TV Plus free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) content channels and video-on demand offerings. The Hub will also make recommendations geared toward individual viewer preferences.
The 77S95C also includes the Samsung SmartThings Hub that automatically synchs devices for
easier control of connected devices, including third-party appliances and IoT devices for seamless use experiences. This includes a feature called 3D Map View that provides a bird’s eye view of the home and all connected devices at a glance. This enables easily monitoring the home’s energy use from the S95C’s screen or via an available mobile device app.

Audio support includes on-board a 4.2.2-channel speaker system with top-firing drivers to give its Dolby Atmos compatibility that extra boost. The company’s Q-Symphony system also easily pairs a supporting Samsung Q- or S-series sound bar with the TV’s sound system to integrate the surround experience from all of the speakers in both the television and the sound bar, for a more enveloping experience.
The television also features Samsung’s ultra-thin “Infinity One” OLED TV design made possible through the use of the company’s “Slim One Connect Box”, which is an external box containing the televisions circuitry and inputs attached to the screen via a translucent thin cable that is easily hidden to conceal cable clutter.
Note that Samsung will also introduce later this year a somewhat less-expensive S90C Quantum HDR OLED TV series. However, that series will have a lower peak brightness capability, and a different cosmetic design that omits the Slim One Connect Box of the flagship S95C Quantum OLED line.
