The 15th Annual Value Electronics’ “TV Shootout Evaluation” event will take place tomorrow, June 12, 2019 between 9am-5pm as part of the CE Week consumer electronics show held in New York City’s Javitz Center.

This year, the event will give attendees and invited judges the opportunity to compare side-by-side four of the top-performing flagship 4K Ultra HD flat panel televisions available in the United States for 2019. These include:

  • Samsung’s QN65Q90R LCD/LED TV

To help maintain objectivity and a level field, the Zohns has arranged to have Joel Silver, CEDIA Hall of Famer and the founder of the Imaging Science Foundation (ISF), which for many years has been setting standards and training for professional television calibrators, to establish the TV Shoot Out’s tests and parameters along with the expert touch of colleague Kevin Miller, principal of ISFTV professional calibrations.

In addition, the displays will be connected to the same signal sources through the latest test equipment hardware and software, switching and distribution systems and cabling supplied by pro-level systems dealers AVProStore and Metra Home Theater.

In tandem with Zohn and event moderator Scott Wilkinson, the experts will set up the displays and help take judges and audience members through the various test patterns and demonstrative real-world video sequences to help attendees and judges gauge the strengths and weakness of each test display.

The TV Shootout will also be webcast live to reach the largest audience of electronics enthusiasts. A panel judges consisting of professional video colorists, finishers, TV reviewers, and video scientists have been selected to judge and vote on all of the picture quality attributes to determine which TV will be awarded the 2019 “King of TV.” Last year’s winner was the Sony 65A9F 4K OLED TV.

The TVs are taken randomly from Value Electronics’ inventory, no manufacturer supplied samples are used. The objective of the TV Shootout is to award the best TVs in each of the attributes of picture quality, Zohn said.

Video enthusiasts are invited to attend the event by registering via email: [email protected].
