Update 2: Sears sale on the Panasonic Blu-ray player below has ended.
Update-Sears had a one day on-line sale “today only” (11/23) on the Panasonic Blu-ray player model DMP-BD35 at $149.99 (was $299.99). Sears on-line is out of stock, but if you bring in a copy of the sale web page [ http://tinyurl.com/6ra8og ] and your local Sears store has it in stock, the price will be honored in-store (A friend just picked one up at his local Sears store at the $149.99 price).
This year, you don’t have to wait for Black Friday (Nov. 28) to get incredible deals on HDTVs. The HD Guru searched the New York metro area (Sunday, November 23, 2008) newspapers and e-tailers websites for the best Pre-Thanksgiving HDTV deals, (defined as top tier brand HDTVs, with the deepest discounts). You can use these low prices at the stores advertised or in many cases, get an even better deal at the HD Guru’s internet shopping link by entering the model you desire in the “Product Search” Box under the HD Guru’s “Check Prices” banner in the left column of this page. It will take you to the HD Guru shopping page, powered by Price Grabber. You may also use the prices listed below to negotiate with your local retailer, especially if they have a price match policy. Today’s bargains are from Best Buy (BB), Circuit City (CC), (national retailers), 6th Avenue Electronics(6 Ave) -www.6ave.com (online ordering and NY/NJ stores) Fry’s- www.frys.com (online ordering and stores in CA,TX,GA,WA,IL,NV, IN,AZ,OR.), and Vann’s-www.vans.com (online ordering and stores in MT). Online prices are subject to change. (FS=Free Shipping; Sam=Samsung; Pana=Panasonic)

Bait and Switch by Sears. Only a few players in stock anywhere. No rainchecks. Nothing. Pure hype!

The TC32LX85 is 32″, not 37″. Hence the “32″ in the model number.
Thanks for catching the typo. It’s been corrected.

Hey HD Guru,
If people are still looking for a Pre BF deal, you can get a Memorex Blu-ray player for $128. All of the other deals seem to be sold out online.
Feel free to check it out; I wrote about it here: http://tvlampsnbulbs.com/2008/11/pre-black-friday-deal-memorex-mvbd2510-for-128/

Black Friday
Wretched excess is an unfortunate human trait that turns a perfectly good idea such as Christmas into a frenzy of last-minute shopping-or attaches the name of St. Patrick to the day of the year that bartenders fear most. -Jon Anderson Happy Holidays!

Some Sears still have the LN40A500 in stock at $799. Contrary to the above chart, the LN40A500 was never at $1099. This set along with other “value priced” models from Samsung (ending in 400 and 500) were manufactured specially for sale at this price by cutting features that you’ll find in the regular Series 4 and Series 5 of their line.
The “Was” price is the pre-sale price listed in the respective store ad, in this case Circuit City. This is what the retailer is claiming and I am simply restating the price here. If you do not believe the pre-sale price the store is advertising is accurate, one should take it up with the store and/or your local consumer affairs dept. I am simply reporting it. I am not the price police. Thanks for the comment.

I’ve been watch my Samsung 56″ DLP screen (1080p) for over a year and a half and have not had the viewing angle issues with screen brightness described here. Moreover, I’ve just had my Samsung and my Toshiba Regza 47″ bedroom LCD (also 1080P) ISF calibrated and couldn’t be happier with the picture from either of my TVs.
