Once again, we come to the Holiday Season, a deeply religious time that each of us observes, in his own way, by going to the mall of his choice. -Dave Barry :o) Happy Holidays!

As usual, this is a great post. After reading it, I think we're seeing the end of DLP as we know it. I think that DLP has another 2-3 years before it disappears from the market and LCD, Plasma, D-ILA, and OLED fight for market dominance.

Cheers.

We have a Sony standing around here aswell for reviewing. We founded the dimming you mentioned being dependend on the content: a static content is dimmed to prevent burnin, a dynamic content (we generated 2 static ones, between we switch every ~5s) doesn't show the dimming.

Furthermore: the maximum output is dependent on the input. I get more from USB than from HDMI for example.

"alfully close" to start selling a 27 inch OLED TV said Sony's US CEO. After that, comes a 40 inch.

This comment follows Sir Howard Stringer's comment of a few weeks ago that Sony would begin selling a 27 inch OLED within the next 12 months.

Well now, what do we have here! Sir Howard Stringer,Sony's Chairman just showed a crazy thin 0.3 mm working prototype OLED display today.

That is 3/10's of mm! or 10 times thinner then the above reviewed television, about as thin as a playing card.

Further he said, they will put a version of this panel in a 27 inch television which is scheduled to go in production soon. This confirms an earlier insider report I heard of the 27 inch OLEDTV to be out at end of 2008. My guess,in time for the Christmas season.

Unfortunately it will be extremely expensive, how much? He would not say.
Never the less for some, they will jump on it.
