The 2013 HDTVs are  hitting the dealer showrooms and are now available for immediate shippment from Amazon direct.  This past week we’ve seen new 2013 high-end plasmas and LEDs from Samsung and Panasonic in person and will be reporting our observations in the coming days.

For those of you looking for a new large screen TV, you have two choices: get a final closeout on a 2012 LG, Samsung or Sharp for up to 55% off retail, or go for the first of the higher-end models from Samsung or LG. Either way it’s a win-win. How do you decide?

If you are going for ultimate picture quality, you can now get one of the 2013 F8500 plasmas from Samsung   The Samsung F8500 plasma, based on our short observations against a very highly rated competitor’s LED LCD this past week showed us its brightness, black level, contrast and overall image quality to be better, yet costs  less than competing LED LCDs . There is a new carbon filter on the F8500 plasma Samsung that permits it to give the image a lot of “pop” even with relatively high ambient light levels.

If you want outstanding value, with prices in the 40%-55% off retail, the remaining inventories of 2012s will be gone soon . The set makers have already shifted over to 2013 production models.

This week’s list begins with the 2012  close-outs followed by the new 2013s, after the break.
