Engadget is reporting up to three month delays in the release of GE's new line of HDTVs. Apparently a "marketing" decision. (Never could stand "marketing.") Go, go, gadget competition....

It seems like the biggest different is going to be with the warranties. HDTV makers will have to find a way to differentiate themselves in this crowded market and feeling like you don't have to worry about defects for a longer time will go over well.

Just look at what Hyundai was able to do in the auto industry....GM, and Chrysler upped their warranties as a result.

Gary, I would like to see the same questions put to SOYO-Honeywell and in the same format (e-mail response). Then we could compare GE to SOYO-Honeywell directly.

SOYO-Honeywell are about a year ahead of GE. A lot of the discussion from Peter Weedfald is political rhetoric and platitudes of ignorance. In reality, GE is going to throw a lot of money at the CE HDTV market and hope some of it sticks.

I salute you for pursuing this topic. Maybe you would consider expanding it to other manufacturers; call them winners and losers! Bad economies expose weaknesses and we could easily see massive destruction over the next 12 months. I would really appreciate your professional pursuit of this topic.

Thanks
