I had a Lg 32" LCD model# 32LC7D-UB die in 2 years. Screen flickers then goes black. The repair cost is equal to a new walmart 32" LCD

LG's response was basically "too bad, 1 year warranty only". What a waste of money. Maybe their plasmas last longer, but I'm done with LG. Stay clear of LG LCD products. I hope people read this before purchasing.

42" LG Plasma purchased in 2005, what a waste of $3000. Never again, will I waste money in a technology, so I can be a guinea pig! LCD's recognizable history is where I trust my instincts. Learned the hard way.

2009 Panasonic owners are being victimized by fast-rising black levels on their plasmas in less than 1000 hours!

HD Guru gave glowing reviews to the 54V10 - "King of Plasma".

Too bad it's become KING OF GREY. And Panasonic has the nerve to state this as "normal operation".

I have a samsung hl61a750 dlp 2 years old and it has been a great tv.the compliments we get about the picture quality never end. this tv is on at least 16 hours a day with the kids and gaming
all the time it gets used. I know dlp technology is old but i really don't understand why samsung quit making them soon after they started using the led light engine. You can't beat the price for the size, i got this one brand new for 1799.00 on sale. they seemed to have fixed the problems they had with older models. But sales dictate what to manufacture i guess, even thou mitsubishi still makes them and still sells plenty of them. to replace my 61" with a big lcd would be quite expensive however a big plasma would be cheaper. I have located a new 67" samsung dlp with led engine in new york in the box for about 1900.00 pretty cheap for that size.

I am currently looking to buy a 46 to 50 inch TV. I am looking either at the Samsung Series 8 LED or the Panasonic plasma V10. One thing that keeps coming up is that plasmas are not good for a bright room. I do not have a dedicated home theatre and the TV will be wall mounted in the lounge room. We have floor to ceiling windows on one wall (to theright of and about 3m away from TV) which let through quite a bit of light and no blinds on the windows. Will this affect the plasma and should i go with the LED instead?
Thanks

I have been in the tv business for the last 6 yeras. 4 as a sales associate at sears and 2 as a repair technician for a large service company. I can tell you that many of the bad reports about plasma tv's are just that bad reports. Plasma tv's are very good sets. They have very sharp pictures and support fast moving pictures very well. They also have no more repair issues than lcd sets. And both lcd and plasma sets are far better on reliability than dlp or lcd projection sets. Now brand is also make a huge difference. For plasma sets I would never buy anything but Samsung or panasonic. Those of you who complain about plasma because you own an LG that has broke down doesnt mean that it broke because it is a plasma; it is because you own an LG. In the repair industry we refer to LG as "L"owsy "G"arbage. For LCD sets I would only purchase Samsung or Sony products. But would not reccomend them if you are a big sports fan because they do not handle fast moving pictures very well. Now if you dont have room for a 42" television or larger then you have to buy an LCD and I would reccomend that you purchase a Samsung or Sony with 120 or 240 HZ. Plasma TV's are here to stay and are very good sets as long as you stick with good brands and buy a decent version. Samd thing with LCD's you get what you PAY for. I personally own both a 42" Samsung Plasma and two 32" LCD. 1 Samsung and 1 Sony. I just recently purchased the 32' Samsung 1080p 240 HZ and I love it. The other lcd and plasma I have owned for 4 years and have never experienced a single problem but I also bought a higher end version. All of the sets and brands I have talked about have the least amount of repair problems compared to the amount sold in the US. So do not worry about purchasing a plasma as long as you buy a samsung or Panasonic and stay away from lower end models sold at many stores including the all famous cheap Wally World. "WalMart"

When I researched the plasma versus lcd's back when moby dick was a minnow, all the sales people were making up stories about the plasma's, trying to sell the lcd's and I don't see where that has changed.
Buyers are walking into these sotres and letting these sales people convince them to buy something they don't want, they are letting themselves be convinced that the picture they are seeing is not real, and the sales people are adjusting the settings on the tv's in the stores so that the pictures are better on the products they make more money off of. Buyers need to wake up!

After I did my research and corrected the sales person, I bought my first plasma, a PDP-5030HD. I have been thrilled ever since, except for 2 problems. The major one is something happened to mine the other day, I still get sound and light on the screen but no picture.

I need to find a technician to tell me what's wrong and/or I have to buy a new one. I was shocked to find out that Pioneer is exiting plasmas and there are only a few pioneers still around. The requirement to purchase from an authorized dealer is making me very nervous and limiting even further my selection. So I need some help,
1. does anyone know what might be wrong with my existing set and do you think it's fixable?
2. If I have to buy another one, I'd love a pioneer but it appears I'd be limited to the PDP6020 from an authorized dealer or a 151fd from a dealer via amazon, and amazon is supposedly authorized so I'm not sure how this will work - any input would be appreciated
3. Last resort is to buy the Panasonic 50V10. I bought my son a panasonic last year and the picture is really good. I've done my research and would consider the 50V10 as a replacement. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I've been researching for a couple of days now and would appreciate any thoughts. Thanks for your help

There are a lot of advances when it comes to display technology. Oftentimes, most of them are better than LCDs and Plasma when it comes to performance and quality, however, since new display technologies are harder and more expensive to manufacture, Plasma has been a very cost-effective choice for many consumers.
