I have a question about the USB Flash Memory usable with BDP-S350. The memory can be read by the player, or it’s used just as additional memory support for BD Live?

As others have stated above (but it’s so true), why is this year’s entry-level Sony being put up against the step-up, and $200 more, Panasonic?

If you’ve got a decent receiver, it seems that it’s worth it to save the couple hundred bucks and get the S350. If you’ve got an old receiver, it would be a fairer fight to wait for the S550 to be able to properly compare it to the BD50, both of which look like solid machines.

Otherwise, a good review of both units. Nice to see that BD players are finally speeding up in load times and whatnot. The last generation was painfully slow!

Nobody has commented that the Panasonic can play the DIVX format. The quality of DIVX material leaves something to be desired, but if you want a player can do it all, and is compatible with your media library, it seems to me that the Panasonic does one better than the Sony! In the future, I would like to see a head to head comparison of the Panasonic DMP-BD50 with the Sony BDP-S550, both seem to be around the same price point.

Great now just send me #00 bucks and I’ll but the Panasonic You ‘experts crack me up. You think everyone wants to lay down the money for top of the line equipment. My Onkyo can decode all the new codecs and I could care less about BD live (I have a job and a life).

Only one point is not clear for me. I hope someone can help me.
The Sony 350 doesn’t have 5.1 outputs ok, but Dolby TRUEHD/DTS HD are only on the HDMI or also optical and coax output? I have an old Recevied 5.1 with analogs and digital inputs, could it decode Dolby TRUEHD/DTS HD?
