Check It Out! A Better Buy on an HDTV From Best Buy Online

Best Buy has a two price policy on a number of HDTVs on sale in this week’s (Oct.2) circular. A higher price for shoppers that rely on the sale flyer, and a lower price for consumers that log into their bestbuy.com account, choose the TV they’re interested in, place it into the shopping cart, then proceed to check-out. Doing so reveals a price difference of up to a whopping $261 below the flyer price on 7 of 19 advertised HDTVs. That’s 37% of the sets that are supposed to be “on sale”.

If you want to buy one of these sets and get the lower price, you must either order online (for delivery or store pickup) or go to the store and ask the service desk for a price match of Best Buy’s circular sale price. According to Best Buy’s Price Match Guarantee printed on the back inside cover of this week’s flyer, they will match the Best Buy lower online price for the same model.

Extra Savings on these HDTVs

Below we list the 7 sets with the Best Buy circular price (BB) the Best Buy on-line price (BBO) and the Amazon price.

We continue to recommend and affiliate (we may earn a small commission on referred sales) with Amazon because they have some of the best HDTV policies in the industry including a low price guarantee (they match Best Buy’s online price if lower) and free return freight. All listed models have free shipping by Amazon direct.  Note: prices are correct as of posting and may change at any time. Please verify with our links; Most states do not collect sales tax on Amazon orders [with the exceptions of CO, KS, KY, NY, ND & WA]. You always pay sales tax when buying at any brick and mortar store if you don’t live in AK, MD, MT, NH or OR. Should you buy an HDTV online or from a retail store?  Learn all the pros and cons in our article here.

Buying a TV from Amazon is easy. Today, set makers are packaging their TVs better than ever, knowing many models are shipped to end users. More and more folks are choosing Amazon for their big screen HDTV purchases, because of its lower-than-store prices, convenience and policies that are better than what is offered by brick and mortar chains.

We rechecked Best Buy’s latest (Oct. 16) circular. We found 5 out of the 22 TVs advertised have lower prices at online checkout. Savings were less than the previous price check, ranging up to $52,  note Best Buy advertised a lower priced TV selection this week.

Today we also checked the inside the store price of  5 LG HDTVs against the online price at checkout and found the website  price to be  $49-$301 less than at our local Best Buy! The $301 savings is on the  LG 55LW5600. The BB store price is $1700, BB online is $1398.99.  By comparison, Amazon’s price is lower at $1330.41 and includes a free family pack of 3D glasses in addition to the four pairs packed with the TV.
