Is the HD picture on the NEW LED sony line up better then the panasonic plasma’s this time around?

Sony’s 3D TV’s will be out here in Japan next month. Do you think they have fixed the 3D problem and it will be better than what you saw? Also maybe you know this answer.. Why the heck are TV’s so cheap in the USA? For instance, the Panasonic 3D TV’s are only like $2,750 there but for the 54″ here it’s about $5,800 and for the 50″ it’s $4,800. They are made in Japan, then shipped to the states so why must Japan suffer withy such dang high prices?!

You were correct, Guru, regarding the Sony pricing, as SonyStyle recently dropped their prices to reflect the ones you published. However, I am still somewhat confused as to why the 40″ HX800 would be priced $100.00 less than the 40″ NX700. Also, can you explain why the HX800 series is the only one of the Sony upper-end models that is not monolithic design? Thanks, as always, for sharing your research.

I would love to know the answers to the other questions of this page reagrding the new Sony NX800. I understand this is the replacement for the LED XBR. I want the best 52″ LED LCD I can find. The last verson of the Sony was too thick, but I liked the picture quality better than Sansung. Watching Samsung, everybody looks sunburned to me. I like the more natural look achieved by Sony. I have found that contract makes a big difference but haven’t seen the spects yet.
Can you comment.

If you have info on which models have a Matte vs. Glossy finish, please include it on your news and analysis (esp for Sony and Samsung). This can be a real deal breaker on deciding on purchases.

Is the “non-glare” coating only on the HX800 series??? Seems like this would be a big deal and should be on all of their upper-end models.

Thanks for the Sony overview. One observation: the prices you quote for the NX800 and NX700 are considerably lower than what is published on the Sony Style web site. I hope you are correct, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up.

The local Sony Style Store has a 52″ NX800 on display showing the price at $2799, the same price stated by the salesperson. In addition, multiple sources confirmed pricing info.

We are eagerly awaiting your report on the 3D picture quality of the Panasonic TC-PVT25 series and whether or not that said quality was best in show. Also is the 3D quality on par or better than the 3D which is available in cinemas (IMAX3D, REAL-D, etc)?
Please do not forget to mention if the VT25s have finally attained KURO-ESQUE legendary black levels.
