At the 2007 CES, RCA said they would have a 1080P DLP Hd tv. I've seen nothing as of 9/17/07. Do you know anything about this?

I decided to go with 50" plasma and I narrowed my choices down to these three. Samsung HP-S5073 and Panny TH-50PX600U are last year top line models, while Hitachi P50H401 is this year model and has 1280x1080 resolution. Does this resolution gives it advantage over the other two?

I will be sitting about 11-12 feet away from TV.

How do these three compare in terms of PQ and which one would you pick?

Thanks,
Dejan

I also noticed that the TH-50PZ700U's MSRP is over a thousand bucks less than what Panasonic's own TH-50PF9UK is going for even at bargain stores, and that's an industrial model without speakers or HDMI by default. Can we expect to see an immediate and massive drop in the TH-50PF9UK's price when the 700U comes out?

Hey, the prices on the 50" and 58" PZ700U plasmas looks to be excellent. And if that's MSRP, then it should be even lower in stores. And if prices fall over the course of this year like they did last year, these things are gonna be dirt cheap by next February!

I'm also thinking, if Panasonic is pricing things this low, how low will it force bargain brands like Visio to go?
As top-tier brand prices drop, the dollar gap between tier one and tier three brands (such as Visio, Maxent, etc.) will decrease. So the question really is: how many dollars do you need to save to settle for a tier three flat screen's performance and short history? Will the brand still be around in two or three years if you need parts and service?ÂÂ

I have a small living room and won't be purchasing a surround sound system for aesthetic purposes. I was wondering how the 75u/77u/700u compare to the 600u as far as sound quality. There were some great deals to be had on the 600u a couple of weeks ago(~$1,200), but it appears as though I've waited too long and those deals have passed. Anyway, I have read that the 600u had wonderful sound compared to the 6u and 60u. I would appreciate your insights.

I have no way to know until I test one against a 600. According to Panasonic I will be getting a panel to test soon.
